FAQ

What is included in the secure entrance?

To provide accessibility and control visitor access, the addition is positioned on the east side of the building. The office relocation will increase safety and accessibility, establishing one ADA compliant, secure entrance that allows us to control visitor access adjacent to the majority of our parking. The relocation also allows us to reconfigure our traffic patterns by separating bus and vehicular traffic, enhancing pedestrian safety.

Is the gym compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)?

The gym is currently compliant and allows us to host WIAA sanctioned events. If built today, the new code would require different regulations to be considered compliant but that is not specific to the gym, that would hold true for the entire building. The proposed plan includes a new gym floor, new bleachers which would be ADA compliant, roofing replacement, additional padded backstops, and a locker room refresh. The size of our gym is comparable to several of the gyms in other schools. The WIAA follows the NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations) guidelines. NFHS basketball court diagram indicates recommends 3 feet minimum unobstructed space outside court lines, but does acknowledge and provide guidance when 3 feet of out of bounds space is not feasible. 3 feet minimum and 10 feet preferably. If impossible to provide 3 feet, a narrow broken 1-inch line should be marked inside the court parallel with and 3 feet inside the boundary”

How were the survey responses analyzed?

School Perceptions is a third-party consultant that facilitated the entire survey progress from strategy, to printing and mailing, to analyzing data. The survey targeted every district resident with a physical mailing address. The survey response indicates statistically valid predictions as more than 400 people received and completed the survey. 480 people completed our survey, more than doubling the respondents from the 2021-2022 survey (218 respondents)
